Flange Screws – Prince Fastener

Flange Screws commonly have hexagonal heads and a large bearing surface or flange plate that distributes the load or clamping force in an extended area. This feature allows them to be applicable in areas of irregular holes.

The screw has several variations of flange types but the most common is hex flange screws which are also called by many names such as hex flange bolts, hex frame flange bolts, and hex washer frame bolts.

Flange head bolts and flange nuts are mating fasteners that propose the same ability as flange screws but with higher precision results in applications.

What is Flange Head?

Screws with a flange head are excellent devices that typically substitute a traditional screw and washer assembly. The flange part under the head of hex flange screws serves as a washer distributing the load around the material preventing several causes of malfunctioning assembly.

Since the use of a washer is eliminated, flange screws and bolts can effectively function in a range of advantages such as easier installation, increased productivity, and most especially lesser costs.

What Are the Materials Used for Flange Bolts

  1. High carbon steel (0.45%)
  2. Medium carbon steel (0.25%) is mainly used in grade 8 nuts, grade 8.8 bolts, and grade 8.8 hexagon socket fasteners
  3. Low Carbon steel (0.25%) is also called A3 steel. Mainly used for grade 4.8 bolts, grade 4 nuts, and small screws.
  4. Alloy Steel (alloying) is added to ordinary carbon steel to increase the special properties of the material.
